Join us for the next session of our free workshop series One City’s Trash Is That Same City’s Treasure, led by teaching artist Cynthia Reynolds.
In this hands-on workshop, families explored what the city of the future might look like through the art of collograph printing. Guided by teaching artist Cynthia Reynolds, participants learned about sustainability, waste management, and how everyday materials can be transformed into tools for creative expression. Using found and recycled textures such as bubble wrap, fabric, and yarn, students built their own collograph plates before experimenting with printing techniques to create dynamic cityscapes.
The session encouraged young artists to think critically about how cities evolve, what shapes urban life, and how materials can take on new meaning when reused. Students worked collaboratively, discovering how layering textures and altering surfaces impacts both the plates they constructed and the prints they produced. By the end of the workshop, families walked away with a deeper understanding of sustainable artmaking and new ways of imagining the future of the places they call home.
Led by teaching artist Cynthia Reynolds, the NARS Saturday Free Family Workshop is designed to engage families with children 4-8 years old in creative, hands-on art activities. These workshops offer a welcoming space for families to explore contemporary art and diverse cultural expressions together in a fun and supportive environment.
Through these experiences, we aim to foster curiosity, critical thinking, confidence, active participation, and a deeper appreciation of both contemporary artistic practices and the rich cultural perspectives that shape them.
Registration preferred. This program is designed for a maximum of 20 families.

En este taller práctico, las familias exploraron cómo podría ser la ciudad del futuro a través del arte de la colografía. Guiados por la artista docente Cynthia Reynolds, los participantes aprendieron sobre sostenibilidad, gestión de residuos y cómo los materiales cotidianos pueden transformarse en herramientas para la expresión creativa. Utilizando texturas encontradas y recicladas, como plástico de burbujas, tela y estambre, los estudiantes crearon sus propias planchas de colografía antes de experimentar con técnicas de impresión para construir paisajes urbanos dinámicos.
La sesión invitó a los jóvenes artistas a pensar críticamente sobre cómo evolucionan las ciudades, qué influye en la vida urbana y cómo los materiales pueden adquirir nuevos significados cuando se reutilizan. Los estudiantes trabajaron de manera colaborativa, descubriendo cómo la superposición de texturas y la alteración de las superficies impactan tanto las planchas que construyeron como las impresiones que produjeron. Al finalizar el taller, las familias se llevaron una comprensión más profunda de las prácticas artísticas sostenibles y nuevas formas de imaginar el futuro de los lugares que llaman hogar.
Dirigido por la artista docente Cynthia Reynolds, el Taller Familiar Gratuito de los Sábados de NARS está diseñado para involucrar a familias con niños de 4 a 8 años en actividades artísticas creativas y manuales. Estos talleres ofrecen un espacio acogedor para que las familias exploren juntas el arte contemporáneo y diversas expresiones culturales en un entorno divertido y de apoyo. A través de estas experiencias, buscamos fomentar la curiosidad, el pensamiento crítico, la confianza, la participación activa y una apreciación más profunda tanto de las prácticas artísticas contemporáneas como de las ricas perspectivas culturales que las moldean.

欢迎参加我们免费家庭艺术工作坊系列“城市的垃圾，也是这座城市的宝藏”的第三场活动，由艺术家 Cynthia Reynolds 授课。本次工作坊以拼贴版画（collograph）为媒介，带领家庭共同想象未来城市的样貌。
在课程中，Reynolds 带领参与者了解可持续发展的概念、纽约市的废弃物管理方式，以及如何将日常可见的材料转化为艺术创作工具。孩子们使用气泡纸、布料、毛线等回收质感材料制作自己的版画板，并尝试不同的印刷方法，创作出层次丰富的未来城市景观。
本次工作坊鼓励年轻创作者思考城市如何变化、居住环境如何影响生活，以及材料在再利用过程中如何获得新的意义。学生们通过协作探索材质叠加与表面变化对版面与印刷效果的影响。课程结束时，家庭不仅完成了作品，也对可持续艺术与未来城市的想象有了更深入的理解。
由艺术家 Cynthia Reynolds 带领的 NARS 周六免费家庭艺术工作坊专为 4 至 8 岁儿童及其家庭设计，提供一个开放、友好且富有启发性的空间，让家庭共同进行创作，接触当代艺术与多元文化表达。通过这些艺术体验，我们希望培养孩子的好奇心、批判思维、自信心、积极参与度，并加深他们对当代艺术实践与文化视角的理解。
本活动需提前报名，最多可接待 20 个家庭。
本工作坊由 NARS Foundation 免费提供，并在合作场地日落公园图书馆举行；所有参与者均可免费参加。
