The NARS Foundation Exhibition Program presents compelling and innovative work being produced on a local, national, and international level by emerging and mid-career artists and curators.
Each year, NARS hosts an open call for artists, collectives, cultural producers, and curators to exhibit their work in the Main Gallery and Project Space. Situated within the same industrial building as the NARS residency studios, these spaces provide a unique setting for engaging with contemporary art in a vibrant, work-space environment. The exhibition program is open to both new applicants and NARS residency alumni, fostering ongoing relationships with past residents. Selected participants are encouraged to activate the space through performances, artist talks, and other public programs. Through this initiative, NARS seeks to support significant artistic practices and contribute to critical dialogue in contemporary art and culture at large.

The South-West Brooklyn Exhibition Program offers innovative visual artists with an opportunity for increased exposure to a diverse and broad audience. The program aims to engage artists in South-West Brooklyn in cross-pollination and dialogue through a curated group exhibition and contribute to the recognition of the region’s artists in the context of the greater New York art community.
In 2015, the NARS Foundation introduced a new program: the South-West Brooklyn Exhibition Program, providing emerging and underrepresented artists from South-west Brooklyn with the opportunity to participate in a group exhibition in Sunset Park, Brooklyn. South-West Brooklyn is a hub of artistic activity but is still largely under-recognized in the art world. Our aim is to highlight the artists and artwork right here in our community and nurture its growth.
NARS intends to continue the South-West Brooklyn Exhibition program as a biennial event that will be expanded each year to include additional venues for the display of art, public programs, and performances. Through partnerships with other organizations, both nonprofit and for-profit, we hope to expand the exposure of artists in South-West Brooklyn to a larger New York audience.

The NARS exhibitions works mainly through annual open calls that are open to artists, curators, collectives, cultural producers, and thinkers to propose solo or group exhibitions that reflect our mission to foster and represent important artistic directions and critical dialogue in contemporary art and culture with large. NARS selects proposals to be further developed, and provides the space and support to mount ambitious and compelling exhibitions.
