Join us for the next session of our free workshop series One City’s Trash Is That Same City’s Treasure, led by teaching artist Cynthia Reynolds.
In this hands-on family workshop, participants will explore what happens to the things we throw “away” by imagining and building a sculptural landscape called Away. Using found and recycled materials such as cardboard boxes, coffee sleeves, packing peanuts, and collage elements, students will construct three-dimensional environments inside shadowboxes, transforming everyday waste into imaginative terrain.
Families will discuss sustainability, waste systems, and environmental impact while experimenting with sculptural techniques like stacking, reshaping, painting, and combining materials. The workshop invites young artists to think critically about how discarded objects continue to exist and how our choices affect the world around us—encouraging creativity, curiosity, and environmental awareness through play and making.
Led by teaching artist Cynthia Reynolds, the NARS Saturday Free Family Workshop is designed to engage families with children 4-8 years old in creative, hands-on art activities. These workshops offer a welcoming space for families to explore contemporary art and diverse cultural expressions together in a fun and supportive environment.
Through these experiences, we aim to foster curiosity, critical thinking, confidence, active participation, and a deeper appreciation of both contemporary artistic practices and the rich cultural perspectives that shape them.
Registration preferred. This program is designed for a maximum of 20 families.

Únase a nosotros para la próxima sesión de nuestra serie de talleres gratuitos La Basura de una Ciudad es el Tesoro de Esa Misma Ciudad, dirigida por la artista docente Cynthia Reynolds.
En este taller familiar práctico, los participantes explorarán qué sucede con las cosas que tiramos “a la basura (throw away)” al imaginar y construir un paisaje escultórico llamado Away. Utilizando materiales encontrados y reciclados como cajas de cartón, fundas de vasos de café, relleno de embalaje y materiales de collage, los estudiantes crearán entornos tridimensionales dentro de cajas tipo shadowbox, transformando desechos cotidianos en territorios imaginativos.
Las familias conversarán sobre sostenibilidad, sistemas de gestión de residuos y el impacto ambiental mientras experimentan con técnicas escultóricas como apilar, remodelar, pintar y combinar materiales. El taller invita a los jóvenes artistas a pensar críticamente sobre cómo los objetos desechados continúan existiendo y cómo nuestras decisiones afectan al mundo que nos rodea, fomentando la creatividad, la curiosidad y la conciencia ambiental a través del juego y la creación.
Dirigido por la artista docente Cynthia Reynolds, el Taller Familiar Gratuito de los Sábados de NARS está diseñado para involucrar a familias con niños de 4 a 8 años en actividades artísticas creativas y manuales. Estos talleres ofrecen un espacio acogedor para que las familias exploren juntas el arte contemporáneo y diversas expresiones culturales en un entorno divertido y de apoyo. A través de estas experiencias, buscamos fomentar la curiosidad, el pensamiento crítico, la confianza, la participación activa y una apreciación más profunda tanto de las prácticas artísticas contemporáneas como de las ricas perspectivas culturales que las moldean.
Se recomienda registrarse. Este programa está diseñado para un máximo de 20 familias.

由艺术家 Cynthia Reynolds 授课的 NARS 周六免费家庭艺术工作坊专为 4 至 8 岁儿童及其家庭设计，提供一个开放、友好且富有启发性的空间，让家庭共同进行创作，接触当代艺术与多元文化表达。通过这些艺术体验，我们希望培养孩子的好奇心、批判思维、自信心、积极参与度，并加深他们对当代艺术实践与文化视角的理解。
本活动需提前报名，最多可接待 20 个家庭。
本工作坊由 NARS Foundation 免费提供，并在合作场地日落公园图书馆举行；所有参与者均可免费参加。
