Nicki Cherry Unveils New Sculpture at NADA New York

Mama Projects, NADA
April 29, 2025

Mama Projects is pleased to present a new sculpture by Nicki Cherry for the Sculpture section of NADA New York 2025.

Cherry’s sculptural practice explores the tension between growth and decay, embodiment and fragmentation. Their works often appear in a state of transformation, composed of amorphous, figurative structures made from materials such as pigmented concrete, fiberglass, wax, and ceramic. These forms are sometimes fragmented across the floor or left visibly incomplete, with limbs or heads deliberately altered or absent.

These visceral forms are punctuated with both organic and synthetic elements—live and artificial flowers, medical tubing, handlebars, rubber components, and functioning pumps that circulate liquid through the works. Through this integration, Cherry stages a kind of choreography between material and body, evoking the ongoing shifts we experience within ourselves—physically, emotionally, and physiologically.
