Season I, 2026

Sabrina Herbosa Reyes is a Filipina-American architect and interdisciplinary artist exploring spirit, matter, and memory through sculpture, installation, and movement. She creates environments of reverence. A 2024 Brooklyn Arts Council grant recipient, her work has been presented at Fería Material, General Expenses and Aparador in Mexico City and at Alvin Ailey Theater in New York.

As a Filipina-American architect and interdisciplinary artist (sculpture, painting, movement, film, performance), Sabrina Herbosa Reyes is interested in the relationship between spirit and matter as it exists across temporalities and explored through materiality, ritual and craft. Reyes creates environments through large-scale sculpture and installation, as a way to evoke the sublime, inward reflection and daydream. Alluding to nature and “home,” Reyes pulls from her memories of the Philippines and New York to create relationships between environments and bodies. Through movement, the body is seen as a vessel to activate and respond to space, both natural and built. Through this process her work becomes a site that encourages communal gathering and ceremony, as a way to transmute spirit in the form of collective healing.

Sabrina, a 2024 Brooklyn Arts Council grant recipient as part of creative collective Almasphere, has shown work in Mexico City and New York City. Her collaborative piece, “bumalik,” envisioned alongside choreographer Marie Lloyd Paspe, was presented by Asian American Arts Alliance and Nai-Ni Chen Dance Company at Alvin Ailey (January 2023, New York). Her concrete series, “Figures of Intuition,” was shown with Parallel Oaxaca in FeríaMaterial (May 2022, Mexico City) and then again as part of “Kilómetro Cero,” a group exhibition with General Expenses (July 2022, Mexico City). Sabrina registered her solo exhibition, “Elogio de Mudanza,” at AparadorCDMX (June 2023, Mexico City).
