Brian Hudson Huang's practice investigates photography, video, and digital vision as tools of representation and verisimilitude. Tracing a direct lineage of these tools to the historical development of optics and vision, he constructs a genealogy between the conception of linear perspective and Cartesian space to the function of lens-based tools as organizers of visual phenomena along a grid system to simulate an accurate representation of the natural world. By employing photography and video along this line of thinking, his practice proposes that such tools can shape historical narratives, produce propaganda, and obfuscate vision.

Brian Hudson Huang is a lens-based artist working in Brooklyn, New York He received his BFA from The Cooper Union for the Advancement of Science & Art in 2019. He is a recipient of the Vincent J. Mielcarek Jr. Memorial Fund Prize for excellence in photography, and the New York Community Trust Van Lier Fellowship for participation in the Smack Mellon Artist Studio Program.
