2018 Season III

Jonathan González (USA)

Artist Statement/ Biography

Kaleidoscopes exemplify the failure of capture as image continues to shift in form and definition. This mechanism of mutability - this resilience in agility - is a politically intimate act of fugitivity González engages to compose materials and choreographies for performance. Prioritizing the prismatic liveness of black (non)being, their works respond to archival and architectural study, principles of the 'theatrical', and theories of the post-Anthropocene through abstraction to investigate alternatives for living on a damaged planet.
