2018 Season II

BONAM KIM (Korea)

Artist Statement/ Biography

Since moving from Seoul, experiences of displacement and Kim's struggle with cultural identity causes her to see things differently. In this unfamiliar space, her sense of self is both threatened and emancipated. She cannot escape the need for psychological dependency, nostalgic desires and memories that seem to guarantee security and comfort. This is where Kim's work starts.
